Details (general post)

We miss much of life, due to not paying attention to useful details in what we see, smell, and hear. Here is an example:

In Old Testament gospel doctrine lesson #4 on Adam and Eve, my wife the assistant ward librarian, found a picture of Adam and Eve for me. It happened to be one that I think is a temple painting. I showed the picture to the class, and asked what they saw. Didn't get much reaction. Most people would say it is a picture of Adam and Eve.

However, Adam and Eve are holding hands in this picture. That's a comment on marriage (blog on marriage coming). They are purposefully striding. There is a white bird above them, which to me is another comment on marriage. There is also a large kitty-cat (tiger). If you think about these details, there are other lessons.

When you go into the woods, do you see just trees? Ask the questions, when, where, what, why, who, how. How tall. How old. What name. The relative placement. Grass, flowers (color, when in the season), dirt, leaf patterns, sounds. The world is here for our enjoyment. Enjoy it, and learn from it.
